Cherryland Cares recently awarded grants to two area nonprofit organizations. Benzie Area Christian Neighbors received $2,500 and Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing was awarded $1,500.

Cherryland Cares gets its funds from Cherryland Electric Cooperative’s Operation Roundup, when members choose to round their bills up to the nearest dollar. All of that money goes to help 501 3c nonprofit programs in the Grand Traverse area. To participate in the program, contact Nick Edson, nicke@cecelec.com or 486-9222.

Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan recently welcomed its newest clinician, Jacqueline Plamondon, and announced the promotion of Jennifer Kirkpatrick Johnson.

Plamondon, FNP-BC, comes to Planned Parenthood after serving for two years as a family nurse practitioner for the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

Johnson was promoted to regional development manager. She has worked at Planned Parenthood for 15 years, most recently as regional community services manager.

Munson Healthcare President and CEO Ed Ness was listed as one of the “300 Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know” for 2013 by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Becker’s said that hospital leaders on the list have demonstrated great promise and commitment to improving health care in America through work done with their respective organizations, or broader public health initiatives.

Ness has led Munson Healthcare since May 2010. He also served as president of Munson Medical Center through April 2013. Prior to joining Munson Medical Center in 1999 as executive vice president and COO, Ness was assistant to the president, assistant vice president and vice president of the Hospitals and Clinics Division of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Evanston, Ill., from 1990-1999. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
