Beach Bums let lead slip away

O’FALLON, Mo. — The Traverse City Beach Bums could not hold on to a 5-0 lead Wednesday night.

River City plated six runs in the sixth inning to edge the slumping Beach Bums 6-5 in a Frontier League clash here.

Ben Rawding was in control through five innings before he put the first two runners on in the sixth. Burny Mitchem relieved and surrendered a three-run homer to Dan Canela to put the Rascals on the board. Turns out, that was just the start. The Rascals scored three more runs in the frame, the go-ahead run crossing the plate on a Curran Redal double.

Traverse City scored three in the first and two in the third to build a 5-0 lead. Zach Kometani had RBI hits in both innings.

The Beach Bums have now lost five in a row.
