MARION, Ill. — Southern Illinois earned a 5-3 victory over Traverse City on Wednesday to pull the teams into a dead heat atop the East Division standings.

Both teams are now 15-9.

The Miners took a 2-0 lead in the second off a two-run single from Elliot Hagburg.

Traverse City tied the game after Marcus Nidiffer and Chase Burch each had a solo home run to lead off the third and fourth innings. But Southern Illinois came back with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead again.

Reid Kelly suffered his first loss of the season. He went seven innings with four earned runs off seven hits with seven strikeouts. Shawn Gilblair got the win with 10 strikeouts in six innings.
