JOLIET, Ill. — Catcher Grant DeBruin went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs Saturday night as the Joliet Slammers made it two straight over the Traverse City Beach Bums, 6-3.
The Slammers roughed up Traverse City starter Johnny Omahen for six runs in 4.2 innings after the Beach Bums had taken a 1-0 lead in the first.
Traverse City finished with 10 hits, three by Chase Burch and two apiece by Andrew Cohn and Taylor Wren.
The Beach Bums scored solo runs in the first, seventh and eighth innings. Burch doubled in Jose Vargas, who had singled, in the first. Cohn and Wren produced RBI singles in the seventh and eighth.
Chuck Lofgren, who surrendered two runs on five hits in 6.2 innings, earned the win.
Seth Schwindenhammer also had three hits for Joliet.
The two teams close out their three-game series this afternoon.
