Recchia shuts out Bums, 6-0

Reliever Baker a highlight for Bums, who had only 2 hits

CRESTWOOD, Ill. — Mike Recchia tossed a shutout as the Windy City Thunderbolts blanked Traverse City 6-0 to snap the Beach Bums' six-game winning streak.

Windy City struck for two runs in the second inning and tacked on four more in the fifth on four hits and a walk to end TC starter Bennett Whitmore's night.

Recchia — who came in with a 3-2 record and 4.34went the distance, striking out eight. He threw 139 pitches.

Traverse City's only two hits were from Sean Gusrang and Kyle Colligan.

One bright spot for the Beach Bums was reliever Cory Baker. The Grand Valley State product tossed 3.1 hitless innings and struck out five in his second appearance for Traverse City.

Jacob Clem takes the mound for tonight's series finale. He'll be opposed by Stephen Sauer.
