TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Beach Bums selected two left-handed pitchers in Tuesday’s Frontier League draft.
The Beach Bums drafted Ian MacDougall in the first round and Clay Garner in the second round.
MacDougall pitched collegiately for Division 2 Western Oregon University, posting a 2-3 record with seven saves and a 3.06 ERA as a senior. In 17 games he pitched 32.1 innings, striking out 32 and walking just six. As a junior, he was an All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection going 3-0 in 18 games out of the bullpen with a 2.08 ERA.
Garner played his college ball at Georgia Perimeter College, where in 2012 he went 8-2 with a 1.75 ERA at the junior college level. In 72 innings, he whiffed 69 batters. In 2011, Garner went 9-1 with a 2.44 ERA for the Jaguars, and fanned 76 in 70 innings
