Gusrang leads Bums to 3-2 win

Kelly earns 10th win of the season

TRAVERSE CITY — Sean Gusrang delivered the big blow Friday night.

The Traverse City rightfielder belted a three-run home run in the seventh inning to power the Beach Bums past the Road Warriors 3-2 in a Frontier League game at Wuerfel Park.

Gusrang's blast came off Shawn Marquardt, who took a two-hit shutout into the seventh.

Chase Burch led off the frame with a walk. Jeff Flagg then singled Burch to second. After Kyle Colligan popped out to first, Flagg stole second and Gusrang crushed a 3-2 pitch for his ?? 15th homer of the season.

Reid Kelly was masterful in his seven innings on the mound, allowing just two hits and striking out 10, to earn his 10th win.

The Road Warriors broke up a scoreless contest in the top of the seventh when designated hitter Doug Thennis tripled and scored on an error.

After Gusrang's homer, the Road Warriors put another run on the board in the eighth off reliever Nick Capito when with two outs Jacob Daniel singled and Matt Wright tripled. Matt Miller came in to strike out Ryan Kaup to end the rally. Miller then pitched the ninth for the save.
