Bums get crowned by Kings

TC finishes year 14-31 on the road

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Beach Bums' final road game of the season ended like many of their other ones -- with a loss.

The Beach Bums, who end up with a 14-31 record on the road, fell 5-3 to Kalamazoo on Thursday.

TC is 25-17 at home, and the Bums' team ERA is 6.01 away from Wuerfel Park, but 2.59 in it.

The Kings (54-33) were able to get to Brett Bostelman (7-7) for five earned runs in 6&2/3 innings. Kalamazoo starter Bernard Robert picked up the win by scattering 10 hits and striking out six in seven-plus innings.

Kings closer Dan Baerlocher was able to get Kalamazoo out of a bases-loaded jam with one out in the eighth inning.

Andrew Franco and Andrew Stafford had two hits each for the Bums and John Alonso cracked a solo home run, his sixth in nine games.

TC reliever Jared Locke struck out three of the four batters he faced.

The Bums now end the season with three home series against Lake Erie, Ypsilanti and Kalamazoo.
