Bums pour it on for drubbing

TC sets franchise record for hits with 21

SAUGET, Ill. -- Traverse City tallied a franchise record 21 hits Tuesday in a 15-4 win on the road against Gateway.

The Beach Bums (36-43) had four hits from Brad Miller and John Alonso, who each drove in three runs. Brian Lapin and Michael Campbell each had three hits while Miller, Mike Victor and Robby Alcombrack all had a home run.

Traverse City was tied with Gateway (32-46) at 4-4 after four innings before exploding for five runs in the fifth. The Beach Bums scored two more in the sixth and four in the eighth to finish the scoring.

David Dinelli pitched the win with five innings of work for the Bums. He gave up four earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Shawn Joy and Nick Pepper each allowed one hit in two innings of work.

Christian Castorri took the loss with 11 hits over 4.1 innings.
