Bums sign former Isom farmhand

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Beach Bums have signed an outfielder who player for former Beach Bums manager Jeff Isom last year in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

Mike Goetz (5-10, 180) played the past two seasons in the Brewers organization after being drafted in the 25th round in 2006 MLB out of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Goetz played the 2006 season with the Arizona League Brewers and led the league with 30 stolen bases while hitting .287 with 40 runs, 13 RBI and a .393 on-base percentage in 50 games.

In 2007, Goetz was promoted to the class short season-A Helena Brewers, where he was managed by Isom. There, Goetz hit .318 with 28 runs, 27 RBI and a .417 on-base percentage in 132 at-bats. He was called up to class double-A Huntsville for one game.

Prior to being drafted, Goetz was a Junior College All-American as well as an NCAA Division 1 All-American. In 2006, when he was drafted by the Brewers, Goetz led the nation in hitting with a .493 batting average.
