Traverse City Bulldogs lose to HCYA

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Traverse City Bulldogs lost to HCYA of Texas 65-47 in the national homeschool basketball tournament here.

After winning their first two games of the tournament, the Bulldogs were re-seeded into the top 6A bracket where the top eight teams in the nation play for the gold ball. Traverse City was seeded No. 7 and HCYA No. 2. HCYA has reached the Final Four each of the last 10 years. The Bulldogs fell behind 28-8 in the first quarter. They brought it back to within 12 midway through the third quarter, but could not overcome HCYA's depth.

Ellisha Crosby finished with 24 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks for the Bulldogs. Rachel Crosby added eight points, seven boards. HCYA was led by Grace McLeod's six 3-pointers. She finished with 24 points.
