Northern Michigan team wins in Adrian

  • Frankfort stopped in semis by Beal City
    After another successful season, Frankfort was felled in the state semifinals for the second year in a row. Beal City topped the Panthers 2-0 in their Division 4 semifinal.

  • Team Far ends seven-year drought
    Team Near kept Team Far in check for eight innings Wednesday. But that one inning was too costly to overcome. Team Far posted eight runs in the eighth inning for a win in the ninth-annual Near-Far All-Star game at Traverse City Central High School.

  • Frankfort earns semifinal baseball berth
    As a state semifinalist a year ago, Frankfort knew what to expect in Tuesday's Division 4 baseball quarterfinal at Traverse City Central. Norway did not. The inexperienced Knights made a couple of costly errors and the Panthers took advantage for a 4-0 win and a second straight trip to Battle Creek for the state semifinals.

  • Near vs. Far tonight at TC Central
    The Near vs. Far baseball all-star game will be held tonight at 5 p.m. at Traverse City Central.

  • Frankfort edges Eagles, 4-3
    A year ago, Frankfort ended a 17-year regional baseball drought. It didn't take nearly as long for the Panthers to hoist their next trophy.

  • Mancelona falls 2-1 in final
    The Mancelona baseball team defeated one ace hurler Saturday, but the fourth-ranked Ironmen were not able to beat a second one.

  • Baseball: Titans win district title
    David Coors and Luke Hessler combined on a four-hit shutout as Traverse City West blanked Alpena 5-0 in the Division 1 district championship game here Saturday.

  • Baseball Roundup: LMC champs sweep
    Nico Cornstalk pitched a no-hitter as East Jordan beat Elk Rapids 7-0 in the opener of a Lake Michigan Conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday.

  • Roundup: Norse win Northwest golf title
    Glen Lake won the Northwest Conference golf championship match Monday at Mistwood, but Suttons Bay claimed the overall league title. (Plus more golf, softball and baseball.)
