State Theatre offers high-heat promotion

FROM STAFF REPORTS

TRAVERSE CITY -- The State Theatre in downtown Traverse City is starting a new promotion, so keep your eye on the thermometer and the marquee.

The first day every summer the temperature hits 90 degrees, The State will host free movies all day.

The first day the temperature hits 100 degrees, the Theatre will host free movies and provide free pop all day.

If the 100-degree mark is hit during the July 29-Aug. 2 film festival, the first day after the festival will instead be free.

State Theatre officials said they'll e-mail members and others on various e-mail lists as soon as the National Weather Service confirms the temperature and they'll also post the information on the marquee.
