TRAVERSE CITY Police arrested a student who shoved an assistant principal at Traverse City Central High School.
The student, who already was suspended from school, came to the school at about 8 a.m. Monday to speak with friends, Traverse City Police Capt. Brian Heffner said. Principal Jim Leyndyke and an assistant principal approached the student and told him to leave, Heffner said.
The student allegedly shoved the assistant principal on his way out, Heffner said.
An officer located the student a few blocks away and arrested him for assault and battery. Neither Heffner nor Leyndyke would identify the student, 17, or specify which assistant principal was involved.
The student was released from jail on bond and is scheduled to be arraigned May 9.
