TRAVERSE CITY — MidEast: Just Peace will sponsor a program by Randie Clawson, who spent April through July as an Ecumenical Accompanier with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel.
The program starts at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at the Traverse Area District Library, 610 Woodmere Ave. Clawson will share her observations on life in Palestine and Israel and her views on the potential for peace and the end of occupation. Germanfest on tap
TRAVERSE CITY — Plans are being finalized for Trinity Lutheran Church and School’s inaugural Germanfest.
The celebration of northern Michigan’s German Lutheran heritage will be hosted by 6:30-11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in a tent at the church, 1003 S. Maple St. There will be traditional foods, beer imported from the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, wine from the Rhein and Mosel valleys and dancing to music by Da Fankenmuda Fratz’n from Frankenmuth.
Tickets are $35 each and admission is limited to 400 adults ages 21 and older. Beer and wine tokens will be sold separately for $6 each and are limited to three tokens per person. For tickets, call 947-8696, 631-2111 or 938-9424.
THOMPSONVILLE — St. Joseph Mercy Oakland’s Michigan Stroke Network in Pontiac will hold its annual CME conference at Crystal Mountain Resort and Spa, 12500 Crystal Mountain Dr. The registration deadline is Sunday, Sept. 15.
The conference will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21. It will devote a portion of the program to the role of nurses in stroke care. A highlight of the forum will be a demonstration of an MSN remote robotic stroke consultation. There also will be a cocktail hour, networking and an opportunity to meet vendors.
Physicians who attend the program receive 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits. Nurses are eligible for three CME credits for the Friday event and 5.5 CME credits for Saturday. The cost is $25 for nurses and allied health professionals for Friday only; $75 for nurses and allied health professionals for both days, which includes a cocktail reception.
