MAPLE CITY — Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Goodrick of Maple City observed their diamond wedding anniversary on Oct. 20, 2013. They celebrated with a family party.
Virgil Goodrick and the former Virginia Kreiser were married on Oct. 20, 1953, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. The Rev. Joseph Kohler performed the ceremony.
The couple owned and operated Glen View Farm in Empire from 1966 to 1990 when they retired. They also owned and operated Great Lakes Feed and Saddle in Traverse City from 1978 to 1980. Mrs. Goodrick also was employed as a hairdresser at Dorothy’s Salon in Traverse City. Mr. Goodrick is a long-time Grand Traverse area resident. Mrs. Goodrick is lifelong area resident. Together they have lived in the Grand Traverse area for 60 years.
The couple’s children are Susan and Jerry LaVanture of Grayling, Bill and Meredith Goodrick of Empire, Cynthia Goodrick and Michael Wiesen of Empire and Waldo, Fla., and Lesley (Goodrick) Scanlon and Scott Scanlon of Maple City. The Goodricks also have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
