TRAVERSE CITY — Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hoogerhyde of Traverse City will observe their golden wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at a private family celebration following Mass at St. Francis Church.
Tom Hoogerhyde and the former Mary Ann Fox were married at St. James Catholic Church in Grand Rapids on Aug. 31, 1963. Bishop Charles A. Salatka performed the ceremony.
Mr. Hoogerhyde was employed as a civil engineer with the State of Michigan for 33 years. Mrs. Hoogerhyde is a homemaker and a retired LPN who worked with the MSU/Family Practice Residency Program for 15 years. The couple raised their family in Lansing and retired to Traverse City 12 years ago.
The couple’s children are Julie and Mike Smith of Lansing, Mike and Denise Hoogerhyde of Pinckney, Mich., and Kris Hoogerhyde and Nate Matthisen of San Francisco. They also have four grandchildren.
