MANCELONA — Howard and Queen Ottgen of Mancelona will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013.
Howard Ottgen and the former Queen Allison Leonard were married on Aug. 24, 1963, at the Mancelona Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Thomas Voyles performed the ceremony, which was the first wedding in the new church building. Special guests at the ceremony were Queen’s pen pal, Pamela, and her husband, David Briggs, from England.
Mr. Otten was a farmer and also worked as a bus driver and custodian for Mancelona Public School for more than 30 years. He retired in 1997. Mrs. Ottgen taught nursery school, and kindergarten through third grade in Bay City, Kalkaska and Mancelona. She retired in 2003 after teaching for 30 years. They are lifelong Mancelona residents.
The couple’s children are Jefferey Ottgen and Janeth Ottgen, both of Mancelona.
