---- — GRAYLING — Dave and Diane “Lady Di” Noelke of Grayling, and formerly of Dearborn, will observe their golden wedding anniversary on Thursday, June 6. They will celebrate with a party for family and friends in July.
The couple met while playing tennis in Detroit. Diane played tennis for Denby High School. Dave Noelke and the former Diane Carol Cerda were married on June 6, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseville, Mich. The groom’s uncle, the Rev. Joseph Noelke, performed the ceremony. The bride’s best friend, Hilda Gardella, and the groom’s best friend, George Brown, attended the couple as maid of honor and best man. The newlyweds honeymooned at Niagara Falls.
Mr. Noelke retired from Dearborn Public Schools after teaching literature and poetry for 37 years. Mrs. Noelke was a homemaker and also worked at Winkleman and the Dearborn Racquet Club. She currently works at Parrott’s Boutique and Yarn Shop in Grayling and also volunteers at Grayling Mercy Hospital. The Noelkes have lived in Grayling for 13 years. They enjoy square dancing, tennis and golf.
The couple’s children are Jennifer Villarreal of Houston, Geoffrey Noelke of Northville, Mich., and Jill Laubach of Rochester Hills. They also have seven grandchildren.
