TRAVERSE CITY — Mr. and Mrs. Donald F. Vreeland of Traverse City observed their diamond wedding anniversary on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013. The Vreeland family got together for a week-long celebration at Romyr, a friend’s family retreat on Torch Lake.
Donald F. Vreeland and the former Martha A. MacLennan were married on Oct. 28, 1953, at the First Presbyterian Church of Alma. The Rev. Clyde Vance performed the ceremony.
Mr. Vreeland retired from the YMCA. He then worked for and retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections as a counselor. Mrs. Vreeland retired as assistant director from the Traverse Area District Library. They have lived in the Lone Tree Schoolhouse in Traverse City since 1973.
The couple’s children are Victor (Sharon) Vreeland, Rosanna Vreeland Flickinger, Samantha (Mike) Vreeland Burrows, and Valerie Vreeland, all of the Traverse City area; and Amanda (Brad) Winnicki of Rudyard.
They also have eight grandchildren.
