TRAVERSE CITY — Mr. and Mrs. Elgen Walt of Traverse City observed their 65th wedding anniversary on Sept. 6, 2012. They were guests of honor at a private celebration on Aug. 26, 2012, hosted by their children. The celebration was preceded by an anniversary Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Elgen Walt and Dorothy McGill were married on Sept. 6, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Roman Kosnik performed the ceremony.
Mr. Walt retired after 29 years of employment with the Traverse City State Hospital. Mrs. Walt retired after 16 years of employment with Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools. They have lived in Traverse City for 86 years.
The couple's children are Therese (Tom) Brinson of Lansing, Michael (Sharon) Walt of Big Rapids, Cynthia (Al) Robords of Charlotte, Mich., Mary (Bill) Becker and Tom Walt, all of Traverse City, and Dan (Lara) Walt of Virginia. They also have 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
