TRAVERSE CITY — Joseph O. and Loisa J. (Kroupa) Kratky Jr. were united in marriage 60 years ago on April 10, 1954, at the First Congregational Church on Washington Street. The Rev. Dr. Howard Towne performed the ceremony.
Both born and raised in Traverse City, the couple first meet in ninth grade and dated through high school. They lived most of their married lives and raised their four children in Traverse City.
Mr. Kratky worked for 30 years for Traverse City Iron Works. Mrs. Kratky worked for 15 years for Traverse City Area Public Schools. After retiring, they wintered and then lived full-time in Arizona for several years. They returned to Traverse City in 1997 and built their dream home on Rennie Lake.
The couple’s children are Martha (Dwight) Belanger of Mesa, Ariz., Joseph (Kathy) Kratky of Aurora, Ohio, Thomas (Laurie) Kratky of Rochester, Minn., and Greg Kratky of Colorado Springs, Colo. They also have nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
