Leelanau elections stand

SUTTONS BAY — A recount of two treasurer's races in Leelanau County won't change primary election results.

John Gallagher III saw his margin of victory over incumbent Leelanau County Treasurer Chelly Roush expand by three to 177 votes. The Republican winner does not face a challenger in November.

In Empire Township, incumbent Treasurer Cheryl Manning and challenger Robert Price tied in the Democratic primary and Manning lost when she drew the wrong slip of paper from a hat.

The county board of canvassers determined the Empire race could not be recounted due to a ballot mix-up and the original results stand, said Michelle Crocker, county clerk.
