Kelly, Young win Supreme Court races

Associated Press

— DETROIT — Voters have re-elected incumbent Justice Robert Young Jr. and picked another Republican, switching control of the Michigan Supreme Court to conservatives.

Young and Wayne County Judge Mary Beth Kelly won seats Tuesday. Republicans will have a 4-3 majority in January.

The result will end the short service of Justice Alton Davis, who was appointed in August by Gov. Jennifer Granholm when Justice Elizabeth Weaver quit.

Davis and Oakland County Judge Denise Langford Morris were the Democratic nominees in the Supreme Court race.
