Level-headedness

I met Marian Kromkowski in 1999 through our work with Shielding Tree Nature Center near Port Oneida. She was a board member, I was volunteer coordinator. Her integrity of character and level-headedness were obvious. Marian radiates peace and calm.

In the last decade, I have admired her efforts as a citizen striving for social justice for all.

Her training in domestic relations mediation and other credentials, coupled with wide endorsement by area lawyers, is testament to Marian being the person we can count on to administer fairness and justice as Leelanau County probate judge.

Please give her your vote.

Vote Republican

Vote for Republicans Nov. 2. We have had a Democrat governor the last eight years and have seen job losses that are breathtaking. I will vote Republican because it is a vote for lower taxes, job creation and fiscal responsibility. Our state budget is having a huge crisis with huge deficits. A Republican victory will mean a reformed tax system, less bureaucracy, and a more attractive environment for business that will lead to jobs.

We have a 13 percent unemployment rate, which is the second-worst in the nation. Are you ready for real change? Vote Republican Nov. 2.

Concern for groundwater

Do you want to stop the efforts to drill in Lake Michigan and the piping of Lake Michigan water to other parts of the country? Are you concerned with the Asian carp and other invasive species getting into Lake Michigan? Are you concerned about what is the "reasonable use" standard for the pumping of groundwater?

If the answer to any or all of these questions is yes, then Dan Scripps (101st Michigan House of Representatives) must be re-elected to represent Benzie, Leelanau, Manistee and Mason Counties.
