TRAVERSE CITY — Voters overwhelmingly approved a measure that will merge two senior citizen organizations.
Grand Traverse County voters approved a six-year, 0.1-mill proposal that will merge the Traverse City Senior Center with the Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging.
The millage is intended to spread responsibility for senior center funding throughout the county, instead of relying on city government to cover a service widely used by residents of surrounding townships.
"I think it's fantastic," said Georgia Durga, director of the commission on aging. "I'm really excited to see that the voters support us in merging."
