Film Festival Outtakes: 08/02/2008

-- Touching moment: Stanley Donen, director of the high-spirited 1952 musical "Singin' in the Rain," appeared at the Open Space Thursday night. Michael Moore introduced the 84-year-old Hollywood icon to the park audience by singling out "Singin' in the Rain" as "one of the great movies of all time." Moviegoers responded with applause, hoots and even some standing O's. Asked what advice he would give to young filmmakers, Donen replied: "You have to do it because that's what you love."

"No one invited me to Hollywood. I simply loved movies and wanted to be a part of it," Donen added.
