Chargers edges out Central

Suttons Bay advances in Division 3

TRAVERSE CITY — Only two teams were able to score two goals against Midland Dow this season.

But no one has figured out a way to beat the Chargers yet.

Dow scored with about seven minutes remaining as Dow edged TC Central 3-2 in the final of the Division 1 soccer district at the Coast Guard Fields on Saturday.

The only other team to find the net twice against Dow (20-0-2) was district host TC West. The Chargers advance to play on Tuesday in the regional at Saginaw Heritage.

Lauren Barrus had two goals and Paige Piper one for Midland Dow. Kristen Schwenk had two assists and Caroline Frurip one for winning keeper Jordan Sinclair.

Kari Buckel and Danielle Reardon had unassisted goals for TC Central (13-9-1).

Suttons Bay were crowned district champions after edging Kingsford, 2-1.

Alyssa Korson scored first for Suttons Bay (13-3-5) with an assist from Arianna Guillen.

Holly Orban netted the game-winner unassisted.

Suttons Bay advanced to its regional tournament and will play on Tuesday at Elk Rapids.
