Comets down All Saints, Buckley

FROM STAFF REPORTS
GRAYLING - Leland, backed by a large and enthusiastic crowd, defeated Bay City All Saints and Buckley to win the Class D volleyball regional here Saturday.
The No. 1 ranked Comets swept All Saints 25-10, 25-20, 25-9 and Cherryland Conference rival Buckley in the title game 25-23, 25-12, 25-16.
Leland trailed 21-16 in the opening game with Buckley when Alisha Glass started serving - giving the Comets the momentum they needed to overtake the Bears.
"Buckley played well," Leland coach Laurie Glass said. "They had a good game plan. We've played them before, plus they've seen us on tape, so they know what we like to do. We had to make some adjustments to counter their game plan. I was pleased with how we responded."
Leland, 64-7, was aided by a strong fan contingent.
"That really helped knowing they were behind us," Glass said. "It was noisy. That's an awesome way to play. It gives so much more energy."
